Annie and Finnick || An unexpected surprise

theannecresta:

Unable to react in any way, Annie hugged her stomach with her arms and a nervous laugh escaped her throat. The boy and his father were now reunited and that was what it mattered the most to her. Dareon had been waiting for Finnick’s return for so long now it was nothing but natural for her to feel an overwhelming sense of satisfaction knowing thst the wait was now over. She waited patiently until they were both calm, doing nothing but looking at the beautiful scene, she loved both of them with all her heart, there was nothing they could do to stop it. Once the moving scene was over, she approached them and caressed Dareon’s head. “Daddy must be tired” Annie whispered, eyes fixed in Finnick’s, if not saddened for having to end their time together. “And your room’s a mess. Go clean that up and I’ll cook us some dinner. Go on, son.”

Looking up, the boy protested, but left anyway, looking at the ground. The woman looked at her son and then back at Finnick. After a long sigh, she managed to pronounced a few syllables. “I missed you so much, Finn” Her look was tired, like someone who had spent a lot of nights up out of concern and her voice was shaking, she feared that he would disappear, in any minute, vanishing and mixing himself with the air, she wanted to reach over and hug him but the fear of trespassing him as if he was nothing but a illusion stopped her.

“I know.” Finnick whispered as he heard that last sentence of hers slip out of her lips. The man got up and decided to pull her into a hug once more. With his strong arms now wrapped around her, he still felt as if there was something wrong with Annie. “And I’ve missed you too. But it was worth it. And I know that it took me longer than I promised, but now i’ll never leave again. Ever.” He said, and kissed her cheek lightly.

The past victor felt that no matter what he said, the chance that it would calm her down was so small that it wasn’t even worth trying. But then again, she was the one he loved, the one he would do everything and anything for. In some way, Finnick would understand it if she wanted him to leave and never come back. After all, he had lied to her. And it would only be a matter of time for her to find out. She was clever in a way that not much other people were. “Is everything all right?” Finnick questioned as he looked right into her beautiful sea-green eyes.
